A tour around the western side of the island combining tradition with beautiful landscapes. We will visit either La Pagerie museum (the birthplace of Napoleon’s wife Joséphine) or la Savane des Esclaves heritage site and an outdoor museum teaching about medical plants, the traditional way of life and the island’s history, especially the slavery period. The tour then takes you through Trois-Ilets, stopping shortly to see the old church and also the Anse à l’Ane beach, and then through a winding forest road to Anses D’Arlet. This is a small village with old wooden houses and a beautiful church. A small stop for some pictures and optionally, a swim and snorkeling to spot tropical fish in the coral reef, and if lucky, turtles! After this, we drive up to the Morne Larcher mountain for a view on the spectacular Diamond Rock.
We finish with a visit to the Cap 110°, a memorial site dedicated to a sunken slave ship.
